Jesus Christ is seated on his throne and surrounded by a round aureola. In it we can see three blue circles that remind us of the Trinity, and a cinabro-red circle that symbolizes the Incarnation of the Son of God. Both human and divine nature of Christ are included in his Glory.
Jesus’s left hand hold the Gospel book that shows us the verse from John 7,24: Stop judging by appearances, but judge justly.
The symbols of the four Evangelists are painted on the red circle to fill the four corners of the Universe.
The throne and the footboard are illuminated by golden rays because Christ brings us the Divine Wisdom (Sophia). The gold leaf is applied with a traditional home-made glue made of garlic extract.
The right hand is blessing humanity as a sign of the beginning of our Salvation.
Christ is represented as the Emperor and Judge of Heaven, following one of the oldest iconographic representations in Christianity.
